Round Robin Tennis Tuesdays
‘We encourage everyone to get involved as we help create an environment where members can design and run their own specialty groups, such as a running for beginners, photography, sibling squash tournaments or knitting to mention but a few ideas’
We have always prided ourselves on our community spirit within the club, but nothing makes us happier than seeing our members form their own clubs, in this case; Round Robin Tennis Tuesdays. A group of ten tennis enthusiasts, Dr Jamel, Sayonara, Lucy, Khalid, Patricia, Bushra, Helen, Yasmin, Afshan and Jackie have come together each Tuesday between 7.30 – 10.30am and put together their own tennis tournament with trophies, league tables, winners’ pics and everything. We think that this is incredible and it’s about time we gave the team some seriously well-deserved exposure.
With the weather cooling down, the group are re-united after a long summer and are ready in full force for a competitive (and social) winter on the courts. Looking at the winners and runners up for October, it looks like Dr Jamel and Sayonara are the ones to beat, taking alternate turns at first place for the last few weeks. Any new faces fancy their chances?
In many ways this is the beauty of Al Corniche Club and to some extent the perks of being an expat in Kuwait – Ten players, of varying abilities, representing almost as many countries, united by their love of tennis. The group coordinate and share session photos via WhatsApp as well as the updated scores and winner announcements. These are also updated on the rackets notice board. This group is well established and exceptionally active but most importantly it is driven by members for our members. This is something we are hugely passionate about as for all the club organised sessions and socials, sometimes the best groups are those formed organically by our members themselves.
Clubs within a club - We encourage everyone to get involved as we help create an environment where members can design and run their own specialty groups, such as a running for beginners, photography, sibling squash tournaments or knitting to mention but a few ideas. Members decide whether they want to meet on a weekly or monthly basis to discuss, share or do something active. We’re happy to assist in finding like - minded members, provide tips and help get the groups up and running.
If you have an idea and would like to see if other members share your interest, get in touch with email@example.com and we’ll facilitate introductions through word of mouth, newsletter announcements and social media.
Huge shout out to the ‘Round Robin Tennis Tuesdays’ team. We’re loving your work!
